Blue Safari Submarine started its activities in September 1997 and is currently the only operator of real submarines based in the Indian Ocean.

The adventure began with Luc BILLARD, a French sea passionate and former participant in the fabulous around the World Sailing Race (Whitbread 1976-1977), who decided in 1995 to start a new venture in leisure submarines.

With the help of three other friends, they raised the necessary funds to acquire their first submarine, of a capacity of 6 passengers plus pilot, the Blue Safari 600; and to finance the installation of their first base. It was an immediate success and 6 months later, Blue Safari invested in a second submarine with a capacity of 10 passengers plus pilot.

After obtaining the approval from the Classification Organisation regulating maritime safety, Blue Safari officially launched on the 15th November 2005, a new activity, unique in the world: the two-seater Subscooters, which they themselves invented and on which they hold patent rights.

Up to now, the Blue Safari Submarine has made more than 30.000 dives, and over 300.000 customers of all ages (2 to 91 years old) have experienced the amazing Blue Safari adventure, whether as individuals, families or groups.

60 persons are employed in the day-to-day running of Blue Safari, to share their passion with the customers and make them experience the wonderful adventure of Blue Safari.
